Autumn is officially here and not just because we’ve passed the autumnal equinox. It’s raining! Our first winter storm has arrived. Which is not to say that we won’t have any more hot days ahead of us; autumn is first and foremost Santa Ana season around here, which means hot winds and brushfires. For now, though, I’ve got the virtual fireplace on the television monitor on the Circulation Desk and I’m listening to the crackle of the fire and watching the rain come lightly down outside. Now all I need is a cup of hot tea and a good book … if these pesky students would just leave me alone! They must think I work here or something …
